What is Biodynamic Bodywork?

Traditional bodywork is oriented toward treating pain or discomfort with prescribed techniques. Biodynamic work achieves the same results, but the approach is different: Instead of applying predetermined protocols, the therapist is trained to use deep listening and inner stillness to follow the intelligence and health already operating in the client’s body. This allows held places to be freed and reintegrated into the rest of the system, profoundly reducing stress and tension in the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual layers of the body. Clients report a fuller expression of health and ease in their lives.

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy

Biodynamic craniosacral therapy is a gentle, non-invasive form of touch. Anyone can receive and benefit from this work, including those in too much pain or sympathetic activation for other forms of massage. It is most often done clothed, with less overall movement from the practitioner and long periods of stillness and holding. While it is comparatively more gentle than massage, deep pressure is utilized when appropriate.

If you are new to craniosacral work, know that for some clients it can take more than one session to receive lasting benefits - for others, a single session can have immediate and deep results. The development of a trusting relationship with your practitioner is often the guiding principle in reaching this level of ease. Repeated experiences of this level of trust can offer greater outcomes in nervous system regulation and pain reduction.

Biodynamic Massage

Biodynamic massage is a combination of deep tissue massage and biodynamic craniosacral therapy. It employs the same interface between client and practitioner as craniosacral work but with more skin to skin contact, enhancing the physical interface between client and practitioner; warming of the connective tissues to increase blood flow; deep pressure to areas of tightness or stagnation; and long soothing strokes to facilitate integration.
